Opening Night Gala Brings in Over $18,800!

September 20, 2019

Well, the dust has settled (more like confetti) and we’ve finally wrapped up the details on Opening Night at the Opera, our first-ever fundraising event!

Lead by our event chair, the masterful and magnanimous Maggie Thompson, we were proud to share an evening full of laughs, community generosity, interactive music, and hors d’oeuvres with a Mediterranean flare to the more than one hundred guests who joined us at the Tustin Marketplace Community Center Theatre.

A few of our favorite performers gave the audience a little taste of some of the music you’ll hear in our 2019-2020 season. They also enticed the crowd with a teaser display of just a few of the costumes and props you’ll see in our upcoming season, thanks to Scotland King. What can we say, she’s got an eye for design! We were honored to show our gratitude to our Board Chair, Robert Graulich, as well as Scotland, for all the support and guidance they’ve shown in growing Lyric Opera OC so quickly over the past two years.

Beyond that, we were excited to share our vision and values with the community we are here to unite, entertain, and move. We are proud to be stitching ourselves into Orange County’s cultural fabric and it’s all thanks to the folks out there who so graciously help us keep moving forward.

We were offered a $10,000 match for any donations received during the evening by Mr. Graulich and Ms. King, and we came mighty close to reaching that incredible goal. We raised over $18,800 on Opening Night! We are so humbled and overflowing with gratitude, knowing we will be able to continue bringing Orange County a little hometown pride and celebrating all that music does to bring us together.

Until next time, thank you, one and all, for your contributions, donations, and support these past few years. And please join us in the next chapter!
