From the Beginning: Why I Still Love LOOC - a letter from founder, Diana Farrell

Dear Friends,
Eight years ago, I founded Lyric Opera of Orange County with one goal in mind: to make opera accessible, meaningful, and rooted in our community. I believed—then and now—that opera should belong to everyone.
What began as a single production has grown into a vibrant company with national recognition, powerful new works, education programs, and hundreds of artists who have called LOOC home. And yet, our core values haven’t changed: integrity, innovation, and putting people first.
We’ve created magic together—onstage and off. We’ve built opportunities where none existed. We’ve reminded audiences that opera isn’t a relic—it’s a living, breathing, deeply human art form.
Now, as we get ready to announce our most ambitious season yet, we’re also facing the financial realities that come with growth. The truth is: we need your help to move forward.
