Accept no substitutions! Commissioned by the @assyrianartsinstitute - @gilgamesh_theopera brings the world’s oldest epic to the modern stage in a sweeping fusion of opera, dance, and theater. Premiering March 28-29, 2026 at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, this new work reimagines the legendary story of the king of Uruk — his power, his grief, and his search for meaning in the face of mortality.

Commissioned by the Assyrian Arts Institute and created by composer Derrick Skye, librettist Diana Farrell, dramaturg Dr. Eve Sada an international team of artists, the production blends cultural authenticity with bold contemporary performance. With a rich transcultural score, striking visuals, and emotionally charged storytelling, the opera invites audiences to experience humanity’s oldest myth reborn.
