You may notice, however, that our world premiere is not included in those season tickets... That's because it's happening in New York City!

With a libretto written by LOOC's own @dianafarrellsoprano , and a haunting score composed by LA based @brookederosa , this chamber work for three singers and six instruments follows the short story penned by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Based on real experiences and the writings from the male physicians who created the "rest cure" as an antidote to postpartum depression, anxiety, and any other nervous disorder a woman might experience, this Opera follows one woman's descent into madness and quotes the pioneering female physicians who were protesting the remedy during America's Gilded Age. Don't miss the world premiere and Lyric Opera OC's debut at Carnegie Hall's Weil Recital Hall January 31st only! Tickets on sale this September. Check out the feature in @operaamerica for more info!

When Sister Angelica receives a visit from her dowager Aunt after being forced into a nunnery, all her hopes and fears come to a head. Experience this heartwarming and gut-wrenching story in an intimate setting when we bring back our concert Opera series for a semi-staged rendition of this Italian classic, which... since it's on our Opera in America themed season... premiered at the Metropolitan Opera in 1918! October 25-27, 2024 we're presenting a double bill of operas by Gian Carlo Menotti: The Old Maid and the Thief, & The Medium. Taking inspiration from the first production, which was written for the American Radio airwaves, we are setting this story in the Sound studio with a third plot, all its own! Our studio voice actors take on double roles in each show while telling the story of their own personal relationships at work. Don't miss this intimate and enchanting evening full of nostalgia and a little bit of suspense for the spooky season! Cast announcement coming in August. 🎙️
