This year each participant will perform an entire role from a standard one act or micro opera live with sets and costumes. Participants will receive audition coaching culminating in a live audition with industry professionals in Southern California and have the opportunity to audition for LOOC’s next season. Each audition will receive a professional, high-quality recording for future use as well as feedback from the panel. 

This season, singers will receive one-on-one coaching with USC’s own Vocal and Opera Chair, Lisa Sylvester, stage direction from Michael O’Halloran, and resume and career coaching with LOOC Artistic Director, Diana Farrell. All applicants will receive singing roles and possible covers.

Audition Requirements
– Please submit two recordings via YouTube made within the last 6 months.
– Multiple languages are preferred, but not required.
– First come first serve, limited spots available.

– Please submit no later than 11:59 pm pacific time on Saturday, March 30, 2024.

Age Requirements
There is no age limit to participate in this program, all artists interested in the opportunity are encouraged to apply.

Program Size
We strive to create meaningful artistic opportunities for all singers involved. To that end, we will be capping participation in this program once our artist roster is full.

Program Schedule

– Applications Up March 13, 2024 through March 30, 2024

– Parts Assigned by April 10th (Tuition due upon casting)

– Music Rehearsals at USC May 28-30 1-4:30 PM (max two days per singer)

– Blocking and ensemble rehearsals at OC Music & Dance in Irvine June 10-13 from 7-10 pm & June 15 from 1-4 PM

– Piano run June 17 from 6 – 10 pm

– Invite Only Dress Rehearsal in theatre at OCMD, June 18 6-10 pm

– LIVE PERFORMANCE Thursday June 20, 2024 at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton

Program Fee
– All program applicants must submit the program fee of $395 upon application, no later than 4/12/2024. Payment can be made via Venmo (@lyricoperaoc), Paypal (admin@lyricoperaoc.org), or check (please mail to: Lyric Opera of Orange County, 17620 Fitch Ave #280, Irvine, CA 92614). This payment will cover the full tuition for participation, and will guarantee a spot in the 2024 program. Please indicate the name of the artist for whom you are paying and “L’opera petite” in the memo/notes field.
